Mt. Hinode Hiking & Onsen Day Trip
May 25th, 2025 (Sunday)

Now that the weather is getting warmer, how about going on a hike with the Coto Community?
On the 25th of May, we will climb Mt. Hinode 日の出山, a mountain located in the west of Tokyo.
Mt. Hinode is a part of the Chichibu-Tama-Kai National Park which runs through the prefectures of Tokyo, Yamanashi, Nagano, and Saitama. Standing at 902 meters tall, it is the dominating mountain at Chichibu-Tama-Kai National Park. It also boasts beautiful views of the entire Kanto region including the other mountains in the Okutama area.
This mountain is also a famous spot for people to watch the first sunrise of the new year. Hinode in English means “sunrise mountain” – how fitting!
After conquering Mt. Hinode, we will head to Tsurutsuru Onsen (つるつる温泉) to relax and unwind. Along the way, there is a river where everyone is welcome to play!
Come join us as this is also a great way to meet people from around the world! 🌎

The hike will start from JR Ikusabata Station and lead us to the summit of Mt. Hinode.
Please note that it’s a fairly long walk and there are no alternative means of transportation (like a ropeway), so this hike is recommended for those who feel confident in their walking ability!

Start of trail to the peak of Mt. Hinode: 150-minute walk
Lunchtime at the summit: Around 50 minutes
